Grad School Visiting and Barista Working!

 This past week, I went kayaking with my family, and we ended up going to a good pizza place after last Thursday. On Saturday, I went to go see my cousin at a play he was performing at and also saw the Barbie movie. I thought the Barbie movie was very inspiring and After the movie, I went and ordered a Barbie frap to conclude my Barbie experience. I was not impressed with the frap, but if you want a summery, Barbie themed drink, get a blended mango dragonfruit lemonade with extra strawberry puree! It's a good beverage and it'll give you a taste of summer too (and, it's barista recommended by me, which is even better!). 



On Wednesday of this week, I played in the Flyer Pep Band as apart of the TBT tournament, and I'm very happy to have finally had the experience of playing in the pep band. It was not the outcome we had expected, but I still had a great time!



Yesterday (Thursday), I went on a grad school visit to THE Ohio State University's College of Public Health. I was able to meet with one of the admissions representatives, and explore the much larger campus than the University of Dayton. It was definitely a great visit and will definitely be applying there in the fall for a start date in the fall of 2024! 





Today, I went back to UD's campus to meet for coffee with a campus minister that I am close to, and went into my Starbucks early to study my languages I'm learning (French, Spanish and German) and also work on an exciting opportunity I've been offered. 




On Wednesday, after thoughtful conversation with my manager, I will be working towards a Coffee Master certification during my gap year between undergrad and graduate school. A Coffee Master is someone who wears a black apron and studies and reviews all of the aspects of Starbucks Coffee. I'm very excited for this endeavor and for the many coffee tastings I will get to lead in the future.

Another Great Summer Week!

 This week and last week have definitely been two of some adventurous weeks. Last week, I left my job at Planet Fitness to pursue my job at Starbucks but as a full-time barista, and that is something I am very glad I did. It was something that did not unfortunately work out for me, and that's okay because I'm choosing to stay positive as I know other opportunities are going to be there for me. Making coffee has been a hobby I've developed since I've started working at Starbucks so I'm excited to continue doing so. :)  I started reading a book that I love, The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles, and I've been reading outside which has been super enjoyable. It's definitely going to become one of my favorite books.  I also went to one of my favorite smoothie food truck, the Wild Banana, since they were near me and had a very delicious smoothie bowl on Sunday. End of August Update

  I can't believe this month is already over! Lots of things have happened this month, I have began working on my graduate school applications, started the transfer process to go back to my home store, and have caught up with some old friends along the way.   I went back to UD to have a picnic on ArtStreet before I went to mass with a friend I had met as an undergrad there! I also started to apply for grad school, and will be working on my application throughout the fall. I am very excited for grad school because I know the experiences and opportunities I will have there will get me the career I desire to have in the future. Hopefully with this master's degree, I can be a health educator for various populations someday, such as college students, marginalized populations, etc.  Last Friday, I also went to the Dayton volleyball game and was able to catch up with one of my old supervisors!
